Es begann der lange, zeit- und kostenintensive Wiederaufbau. Motorblock und Getriebe konnten nach einer Renovierung wieder genutzt werden, auch die Pedalerie ist noch original. Die Blecharbeiten wurden von Lancia-Spezialisten in Italien übernommen, allein die Suche nach der korrekten blauen Lackfarbe dauerte Wochen. Aulenbacher recherchierte weltweit im Netz nach originalen Teilen: „Da wird ein einzelner Original-Schalter vom Armaturenbrett schon mal mit 250 Euro gehandelt, für ein originales Stradale-Lenkrad muss man mindestens 4.000 Euro hinlegen“.

„Glücklicherweise wusste ich zu Beginn des Wiederaufbaus nicht, was mich da erwartet. Vom Zeitaufwand und den Kosten hatte ich mich absolut verschätzt. Aber dafür ist das Ergebnis umso schöner“ strahlt Aulenbacher gute vier Jahre später.


Beim Eifel Rallye Festival wird er den ‚wiedergeborenen‘ Gruppe 4-Stratos auf ausgesuchten Prüfungen präsentieren, auf den restlichen Etappen steigt er in seinen Nachbau.
