I can only presume that whoever had it, heard about the jumping cam belt issue and panicked, storing it away while he calmed his jangling nerves or until such time as they'd worked out a fix...neither of which happened, hence the car as you see it today :)

I also thought the Gamma only appeared in '78, not '76 as the advert states? - not that it matters, it's a new-old-stock motor that seems to have been stored properly! And although it's "POA", who knows what its value is?? And that's the other problem - if you used it, its value would disappear. I think that unfortunately, the best place for it is in a museum or private collection where it'd sit as a static exhibit of a fabulous but flawed Lancia, very rarely fired up and taken out for a few miles to make sure nothing becomes seized up. ....or, you could just say "feck it" (well, it IS in Ireland), register it and have fun. I can feel the membership dividing into two camps even as I write ;) :)
