it is plumbed in to the clutch slave cylinder....
what is the advantage / disadvantage of NOT having one fitted
currently struggling with clutch on Nellie.....

It's a hydraulic damper according to this thread. There to restrict the speed at which the slave cylinder allows the release bearing to disengage, presumably for smoother changes?

If you've got anyone helping bleed systems (like my Andrea) make sure they are pumping the right pedal.....

Agree with all the comments above.
Had one, fitted it (cause I wasn't sure what it was).
It'll make you think you have a slipping clutch... It did me... took it out and all good, so "chuck it away" is a good shout :-)
It's back in the scrap box !!
I would refit it if I were you mate, coz there will be a fine in Scotland for any parts disguarded because "you didn't know what it did"!!!!
There will of course, be an even bigger fine if you are not in Nellie in Scotland.
