Re: Tarmac Rally Stratos Build begins

As has already been said, great video. Love the lateral thinking to sort stuff and the cylindrical dremel grinder was a stroke of genius!

Those bearings were bloody awful, no idea why they were...

I've done exactly the same thing. Didn't realise I was on auto renew. Paid on the 7th and the automatic payment was taken on the 9th.

  5. Apparently I'm booked on Wheeler Dealers for season 99.......

My Lotus forum buddies really know how to take this piss at how long my build is taking!

    Re: Lockdown advice from Boris

I wish! I never seem to be able to get it finished.

Mind you I've been busier with work this year (hoem based) than I have been for over 10 years!

    Wheels would explain it somewhat!

Jealous of your workshop though. I have a small pillar drill and a bench vice and that's it apart from the usual hand tools. Oh I do have a small compressor...

    Great bit of problem solving!

This post is a gift for Norm's jokes.

It contains the words, vacuum and pulling and the terms 'threading through' and 'have it hard'

It's practically a script for a Carry On film!

    Remastered 1973 Targa Florio Footage

Few shots of a Statos dotted throughout this one - looks like the Le Mans extended wheelbase version? Some other lovely machinery in here too.

Another great video. The head falling off the sledge hammer was gold! I genuinely laughed out loud :D

Harry makes some good points in this video.

Re: Which wheel size looks best?

Just done a bit more research and you can get 335/35/17 in a PZero Asimmetrico and they are developing a 225/45/16 P700Z (no idea when it will be ready) which would make a good set for the 17/16....

Re: Which wheel size looks best?

LB sizes were (and maybe still are) 15s or 16F and 17R.Getting a properly wide tyre for the rear isn't straight forward but is possible.

Toyo do a 315/35/17 in the R888R but it's not available in...
  23. Re: The proposed ban on the sale of new petrol/diesel cars in 2030.

Don't forget they are also banning gas heating in new build homes from 2025. The increase in energy demand from electricity will be enormous over the next 10-20 years.
  24. Re: The proposed ban on the sale of new petrol/diesel cars in 2030.

Paul - genuine question. Does the speed of electric cars, with no noise, or gear changing etc. not feel a bit soulless?

To me driving is about a whole mix of things, sound, changing gear, dealing...
  25. Re: The proposed ban on the sale of new petrol/diesel cars in 2030.

I think there will be many year to come of ICE use, but eventually in the future i guess they will mostly die out. Hopefully they will still supply petrol / diesel for the classics and specialist...
