I remember a fine August evening 4 years ago smiling as I dispatched some sort of Volkswagen Golf on a twisty back road heading home In my Ultima and watching it get so small, so fast in the side...

That goes back to Chairman Mao's other point tho. There's a real tipping point where you need all the high tec stuff switched on because there's more power than you can handle with all the gizmos...

    Re: Chairman's Rant, July 2019

But thereís a lot of folk out there, perhaps away from the budget kit car building crowd, who arenít really having to make a choice in the same way. So, itís not a case of a £55k Stratos replica OR...

    Re: Chairman's Rant, July 2019

Most of my petrolhead mates know I'm doing the Stratos thing. All are hugely interested and pestering for updates but apart from a couple of weirdo mates who have built their own Ultimas in their...

    Re: Chairman's Rant, July 2019

    ...... and breathe .... :)

    Good rant.

Values are funny things and I agree that there's almost an air of apology when selling a kit car that it's actually... a kit car. In the past they were...

  10. Re: Good morning, finally paid my money and joined for real :)

It's a good question and encourages a bit of realism.

Putting aside the question of engine & gearbox, where I guess the price range can go from simply transplanting a £500 donor engine all the way...

    Congrats.

Not overly surprised it sold easily. It looked ace on the LB stand.

    Re: Aston V8 Vantage?

I love the fact that you only thought about it for a brief moment.... then just bought it. That’s the way to live :)

If you average more than 18mpg then I recon you’re not trying hard enough.

No worries. Send me a PM with your address and I'll pop it off to you. Even if you never use it then it's probably better that someone with the right car has it :)

    Re: Aston V8 Vantage?

    Congratulations!

Like I said, I doubt anyone kicks the bucket and regrets owning an Aston (unless they are driving it at the time I guess) :)

I've still got one of the official, genuine, Aston...
