    Strato's artist required

For the past couple of years, I've had an ongoing, friendly 'tiff' with Paul Garlick, one of the head honchos of Pistonheads. It concerns their range of T shirts and in particular a set that depicts iconic cars. There's almost everything that one could think of. From a GT40 to a Renault 4.

    Here's one;

    But, there's no Lancia Strato's.

Every time a new range is released, I have a dig at Garlick about missing out one of the most evocative cars of the 20th Century. And he pretends to ignore me. It's all in jest.

The fact of the matter, as he readily admits, is that Pistonheads are reproducing shirts using a set of car line drawings that they have on file from one of their owner's - Haymarket - other car publications. Unfortunately, there's not a Strato's line drawing and so, there's no T shirt.

In our last spat, Garlick told me that if I could come up with a suitable image, not only would Pistonheads create a Strato's T shirt. But, as with all other reader contributions, they would pay a commission to the artist.

So. Are there any budding artists out there who could come up with something suitable? I doesn't have to be a line drawing. But, it must appeal to the general motoring enthusiast. Maybe, you'd like to post your efforts on this thread so that we can choose the forum's favourite?

Of course, the money paid by Pistonheads and the kudos of having his or her artwork on a commercially produced t shirt, would go to the artist - I've no idea how much money it is, by the way.

As for me, I would just be happy that my badgering resulted in a Strato's T shirt being available for sale on one of the biggest motoring websites in Europe.

Plus, I will get to stick it to Garlick whenever I see him.

    Over to you!

    Hi Elliott,

I'd only do artwork if I knew I was getting paid at the time of handing it over, or up front. To do otherwise would be daft?
Here's a line drawing, and I'm sure there are others. It would be wrong to just 'lift it' though.

There seems to be so little interest in (screen) printed t-shirts these days. I'm not funding any more batches of my own anytime soon, that's for sure...

Here's part of the MGB drawing I did.
A side view in line only wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the replies. I must stress that this is just lighhearted. A consequence of some banter between me and Garlick. Here's the thread in question.

I think this one is (this is a small image) but really only works on a white background.

You're really looking for that side or plan view outline I guess.

Jeff, I think the negative of that image would work fine on a black background.

That looks really good, Jeff. I suppose that with the artist's permission, I could take a few designs and personally email Paul Garlick with them attached to see what he and Pistonheads think?

I certainly would do nothing without receiving you express permission first.
