If I were looking to have a car built to spec, and didn't have a builder in mind that I knew and trusted, I'd have the work done in the UK (both Hawk and Listerbell offer build services) - at least up to the point at which it's still considered a kit (ie without engine, etc) so no issues with importation and subsequent registration. My concern would be the level of specialist expertize required, especially with the Hawk which uses more old/harder to source parts than Listerbell, you may end up with a less than optimal result. If building in the UK, plenty of members here can point you in the right direction.
