I assume that there's some regulation that said you had to carry a spare in case you wiped the front one off in an incident and needed to continue on public roads?
Got the same plate in my car too Tom!

My son was just looking at some pictures of Vince's car on his website and asked me why there is a number plate on the door card.......errr......help.....I have forgotten!

Tom.
yes the beurocrats must have something to beat you with.... "No officer it must have been that other blue race graphic'd stratos you saw speeding down the lane a mile ago...."

Two cars with the same number
According to Roberto, you'd never see a works Stratos with both the plate on the door, and on the front clip, at the same time. Strictly illegal to have a second front (or rear) plate in Italy, as it's a government issued "ticket". He reckons that on photos where the plate is seen screwed to the co-pilots door, they've taken it off to avoid it being lost in the race as it's quite susceptible on the nose. If you lose the plate, you have to change the car number (as happened to a couple of works cars)
I BELIEVE that Vince carries his plate on the door card as a place to store it when he's running his UK plates.
Has anybody seen any photo to contradict this theory ?
Needless to say, probably not a good idea to run replica plates if on holiday in Italy !!
