    Stratos - on Safari

We've finally brought the 1976 Safari Stratos back to the UK. A big thanks to Guy (Guido) Mayers for taking the week off work and helping me load and unload the car and engine, catalogue about 2000 parts, and share nearly 3,000km of driving in 4 days. And to Roberto in Turin for the fantastic detail work he's done in restoring the parts and engine. Also to Vince (Vincenzo) for his help and input so far. Hoping to have it together mid-2014 and will prepare some kind of post or blog to catalogue the work as it goes on...... and on.......and on !!

    Ciao

    David(e)

Well done Davide and Guido, glad you had a safe trip, look forward to seeing the car again soon and more importantly going for a spin in it one day.

    Ciao,

    Vincenzo

Thanks for the opportunity to be involved David, it was an experience that will live with me for years to come. Meeting Roberto was also a highlight for me but I'm sure I'll soon forget the 7 hours spent crosschecking the parts lists against the bagged parts put together by Roberto. I'm sure that the quality of the parts he's still got under restoration will be great and that any missing parts can be sourced in the months to come. If you need a co-driver for another visit to Turin just let me know!

A pleasure Guy - all help much appreciated. Wasn't it a shame you had to spend your birthday kipping in the truck ei ei ei.................

Am I barking up the wrong tree? Is this the famous Stratos from Africa?

Not the same (that was 1975 Safari car), although talking about barking, the dog seemed sad to see it go ! This is Waldegards car 1976 Safari, Ulyate 1977 Safari
