As much as I prefer the new Pirelli's grip levels compared to the Michelins, the Pirelli tread depth is ridiculously shallow, they don't appear to be far off being the legal minimum depth requirement new out of the box!
They are a phenomenal tyre but you'll probably get more life out of another set of TB's.
I haven't had a chance to push the new Pirelli's hard in the wet yet but the dry grip they offer sure makes them my number one choice in tyres.

Performance tyres never have full depth tread as the tread block movement creates to much heat. toyo 888's have 4mm when new!

Pirelli make the tyres for competition cars that use that size, designed to last a few tarmac stages maybe, not designed for longevity.
How about these as an option? Good price if they actually have any in stock.
I agree, it would be great if they could offer the same tread pattern in a road going tyre.
