    Unhappy AllOY RADIATORS (GROUP BUY)

Just been in the garage checking on the car, noticed a suspicious pool of liquid under the front of the car. Carried out the taste test ahhhhh !!! antifreeze. On further investigation it would appear that the radiator is leaking some where along the bottom as antifreeze has accumulated around the core. Hopefully it will be another dodgy weld. I repaired slight weep around one of the welds when I first fitted the radiator last year.

It may be worth anyone who bought a radiator last year to check for any sign of leaking.

Had a similar experience recently, car was out of the garage, so I could do some work in the daylight, when I noticed a puddle of liquid just where it had been stood. I immediately thought "radiator" and like you was about to conduct the taste test to confirm my suspicions. Then I noticed that it appeared to have a slightly yellow tint rather than the expected pink tinge. Further confirmation of my very near miss was when the dog appeared next to me looking very pleased with himself, having found somewhere new to mark his territory.

It transpired that my radiator was leaking from the core, where the cooling grid is sealed into the end plates. It would appear that when the alloy end boxes were welded to the core the heat from the welding compromised the core. There is very little clearance in this area. I ended up having another alloy radiator made.

I had mine made by the brother of Chris Jarvis (ProtoTipo) on here. Roy Jarvis has a company called Ralloy that specialise in alloy fabrications. I will have a word with Chris regarding your radiator request.
