I think I'm going to struggle to make it this year. I got the car started last weekend and got the seats and doors in this weekend. Filled the coolant but the new gauge I built isn't giving a reading and the original Veglia one doesn't want to play either. I'm not prepared to risk the motor without a working gauge any distance. I've ordered a new mechanical one with a 12ft capillary plus an adaptor which should be here Wednesday but I'll still have to strip the gauge down and rebuild it into the replica Gp4 case/dial etc which is probably going to take longer than an evening...
Other issues are a very minor fuel weep and a coolant hose dripping where it's hard to get at. Brakes are spongy and need another bleed and the suspension geometry needs setting up again. And it's running rough. Can't see anything wrong and am hoping that new fuel and injector cleaner might resolve that one, it's a bugger to start from cold and won't tick over evenly. And then an MOT test.
So, if anyone needs a three day ticket and camping mine may be spare. Not given up yet but it's not looking good.
Ken, another "first timer" question: When or where will we get the tickets themselves?
I'm sure everyone else is laid back about this, but I'm thinking that it's only a week and a half away. ..... ohhhhh
Cheers, Jeff.
Jeff.......I should get the tickets by the w/end and will send them c/w site location details and a map on Monday

Thanks Ken, all clear now. See you at Silverstone.

Won't see me.
Anyone who needs a three day pass and a camping ticket let me know.
No temperature gauge in the car now. This evening I stripped out the non functioning electronic one I'd built into a Gp4 gauge cos the bloody thing didn't work. dismantled it and stuffed the gubbins from a mechanical Racetech gauge into the case and resembled it. Went together better than expected, decided to test it before fitting it to the car and put the sensor in the kettle. The needle moved as it started to heat up, got to about 90 degrees and then died. There was a slight smell, sweet - and that was it. So, I think I'll have to send it to Speedy Cables for testing/repair. Not a happy bunny.
