Don't think either lack torque, but not sure Stratos would be a stable tow car...
The missus has almost told me to go out and simply buy a suitable trailer and stop whinging. Trouble is that I distrust buying something second hand that would be "economic" and trailers which look sound and respectable would seem to be close enough to the cost of a new one that it seems (to me at least) to be a bit of a "no brainer". I think she's working under the impression that one of our trees is just about to sprout a full canopy of fresh £5 notes.
That put aside, I have been saying I would get a suitable trailer for a couple of years now, so it could happen. The Strat' isn't the only car that will need some transport so there's a little (slim) justification for spending even more money. Brace yourselves Brian James Trailers, I'm probably going to contact you soon.
A convoy with Struan and his cars would be a somewhat impressive way to arrive but it's still a little early to commit yet. Another months worth of work should see things much closer to complete.
Cheers all,
There you go Jeff. Any chance of a cutting from that tree of yours ?.

I hired a Brian James transporter when I needed to move my Strat. You need a decent trailer to transport a car of value and £2K is a little steep to have lying around.
You also have more friends once people know you have a decent trailer!!
I got an Ifor Williams CT136. Just great for the Stratos. Tows smoothly at 70, one person can load it.
Definitely need somewhere secure to keep it, or live in a low crime area. Can't hire one for love or money as they seem not to get returned. Insurance is about £100/yr, but precludes hiring and is pretty strict.
Missed this one !. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brian-Jame...id=60465223339
The days have gone when you could make your own trailer, VOSA are out in force inspecting all forms of trailer, and if it is not a manufactured trailer it will more than likely get impounded. When towing now more that ever you need to know your weights, if stopped you will be quizzed by VOSA, ignorance will be no defence.
Invest in a good trailer is my advice.

Yes Mel, know all about this "gottcha", not because I've be caught, but because I've been towing trailers for most of my driving life and was stopped, once. This is why I'm shy of buying most of the second hand trailers.
I'll keep my eyes open, but anticipate (having been "guided" by the management) that we'll look seriously at the new options in a couple of months time. At the end of the day the car needs to be travelled about a few times before and including the IVA as well as Silverstone.
Oh ... that sounded almost like a commitment
It is a couple of years since I've been, and never with a car to show.
