I went through the pre SVA amnesty route and was lucky enough to get to keep not only the age related plate but also the donor cars number plate together with the original date of registration. At the time I wasn't worried if they changed it or not but now I guess I'm happy they didn't! It'll save a couple of hundred a year if the rolling date doesn't get stopped by the next government.

As for searching out for incorrectly registered cars that's a big risk. at some point in the future someone at an MOT station will realise it's not what it purports to be and will refuse the test. Then the only route will be an IVA test which older cars might struggle to get through? Primarily we're talking Cobra replicas here, Stratos running on Lancia documents might not be at such risk. But it's still a risk!
