    Good News?

'Looks like a lot of age related Stratos replicas will have free road tax in 5 or 6 year's time.

Unless Labour get in at the next election and stop it again.

1st August 2018 for me Chris - 4 years and 5 months away now. But Labour will scrap it if they get in like they did last time.

    Re: Good News?

    Hmm year of manufacture? 1978?
Be nice if it's the donor car age but may not be? Poss pre SVA you may get away with it though
Certainly for SVA/ IVA cars year of manufacture is the Chassis AFAIK.

Everyone will be searching out kit cars that are not registered correctly and still called their original donor just to get tax free......great for those that have gone to the trouble of doing SVA/IVA ....NOT!

    Re: Good News?

I went through the pre SVA amnesty route and was lucky enough to get to keep not only the age related plate but also the donor cars number plate together with the original date of registration. At the time I wasn't worried if they changed it or not but now I guess I'm happy they didn't! It'll save a couple of hundred a year if the rolling date doesn't get stopped by the next government.

As for searching out for incorrectly registered cars that's a big risk. at some point in the future someone at an MOT station will realise it's not what it purports to be and will refuse the test. Then the only route will be an IVA test which older cars might struggle to get through? Primarily we're talking Cobra replicas here, Stratos running on Lancia documents might not be at such risk. But it's still a risk!

I am with you Guy, I registered mine initially on the Lancia Beta logbook and then followed the same pre SVA route registering the car properly on a 1978 T plate. Lets keep our figures crossed.

    Re: Good News?

My V5 says "Date of first registration 25/2/1978". Possibly 4 years to wait then. Do they assume first registration = age of car?
