Pregliasco seems to take breath, before remembering the most tragic page his career:
"It is the first special test, the fourth bend: useless to look for the reasons... I am slightly on the outside, on the rim of the road a stone-made curbstone... For a mistake both reservoirs are full: we normally departed with twenty-five liters on one side and fifteen spare liters on the other, and instead they are both full... I hit the curbstone and the reservoir crushed as a tube of toothpaste: plug pops-out and from the filler the gasoline escapes. The Stratos sets on fire while we are still continuing our run crosswise... We plunge down a slope on a body side: my navigator, Angel Garzoglio, succeeds in jumping out of the cockpit, while I remain trapped inside because the door doesn't open: few instants later I faint. When Angel realizes that I am still to inside, it throws himself again inside the car and succeeds in lifting and pulling me out, saving my life. After a few days it is he, who dies as a consequence of the terrible burns he suffered: when in the hospital bed I regain consciousness, I have the impression of keeping rolling down the slope. It is a terrible memory".
