When Lord Mexborough had that car, it was fresh from the last BBC televised RallySprint event. Everything untouched and original. Then this happens...

To top it all, there's 5 bar plate in the footwells,.... eesh!
If that was the Rallysprint held at Donnington Park I will have some old slide's in the loft ..... cos "I was there"..... Tony Pond, Russell Brookes John Watson Nigel Mansell Stig (the one and only) Pentti Arrikala etc etc excellent !

Such a shame its lost all its Patina and so new looking especially with its 'Rich' history, to me it told part of the of the story behind it.
As others have said, another advert that says more about the current owners than the car itself. (that 'new' Chassis without any 40 year old surface rust went for over 50k Euros in the Greek auction)
Shame if the Reg number gets separated from it too, all part of its History.

Excellent, thanks for that. When I told my brother-in-law earlier this year that I was going to build a Stratos replica he dug out some photos of the Chequered Flag Stratos that he'd taken at that 1982 RallySprint at Esgair Dafydd in 1982 when an 18 year-old spotty-faced rally-mad youth. He loved the Stratos too and had toyed with the idea of building one but had too many other projects on the go, not least a young family. He gave me the photos to keep. I wasn't sure why, I'd have been just as happy with scans. That's what I'd have done if the situation had been reversed, give scanned copies and keep the originals for myself. Little more than a week later, just two weeks after his 50th birthday, he dropped dead. It was totally out of the blue, he'd have been last in the line of candidates to drop dead from a heart attack given the usual risk factors. Funny he gave me those photos.
