Won't start

Been out in Strat and parked on the drive, went to it an hour later to put it in the garage and it wouldn't start.

Managed to get it started with a lot of cranking and pedal touching floor but was running really rough, stopped when throttle released.
Won't start at all now

Cam timing ok

Any ideas before i start stripping bits off

Alan, Check all the ECU sensor connections. Worth reseating them too?

Cheers Mel, it was fuel pressure.

Some how the regulator got stuck so fuel was returning straight back to tank
Put a pair of pliers on the fuel return pipe to reduce flow back to tank to get it started then removed pliers.
Starts up as normal now

Well if you had used a 166 with an OBD socket, I could have plugged in and told you in a few mins !!!!.

But from what you describe as being like the ignition being switched off and on intermittently and the rev counter dropping to zero and back. I would only guess either interupted power supply to and from ECU to sensors or Crank sensor (may need removing and cleaning metal filings from end) + check sensor to ECU wiring.Also check ECU earths (all of them).

But that's a hard one to diagnose at distance.

But isn't that part of the what the forum is about, may not be this particular solution this time, but in the future someone may do a search and it gives them a resolution to it.....

So the more ideas the merrier in my book.
