Like all the other GRP IV cars this one was taken off the production line and obviously started life as a red Stradale, judging by the colour of the inside door panel.

Looks like the remains of two cars or additional spares? There are two nose sections (or parts thereof) in Vince's last set of photos. It also looks like the pictures were taken in 1990? Anybody thought about asking Thomas Popper - I'm sure he'd know.

Re: Munari Stratos in South Africa

We had a thread on the old forum regarding these same photos. I think Tryphon (or someone) posted them?
I'd always (wrongly) assumed that this tub and the car (see below) that the Chequered Flag got hold of in 1976 were one and the same, but it's obvious to me now that they're not.

Regarding the Chequered Flag Stratos 2:
In Historic Race & Rally magazine, Graham Robson says that the second ex works car that the Chequered Flag bought was chassis 1637, reg. TOL80932
We know that this car is now fully restored and in the early Alitalia colours, but according to the history list by Thomas Popper in the back of the Trow book, TOL80932 was driven by Vic Preston to 11th overall on the 1975 Safari Rally.

Was it 1975 that the Vic Preston car ran in plain white?

Tub paint doesn't match Alitalia door - looks more Chardonnet blue.

The Safari entries for 1975 had white roofs, so it's not a Safari entered car.
