Maybe that was adding to the problem then? The X1/9 visors were a tad too big, as well as being mounted too low?
I'm with Ken, make a stick on one do.

Here's Tom Ransom's photo of chassis 1607, that shows Guy's description:

I can see how they would work better than the X1/9 visors in my earlier photo.

I always thought MGTF visors might be an option.

    Re: Sun visor

I've always wondered if the visors from an original old Fiat 500 might be close to the right size?

Could be a good match for size, but not the same shape as original.
I have a problem with glasses/sunglasses, always lose the damn things. Same with hats.
Sunstrip reduces visibility, when you don't need it, Screen can be a bit of a letterbox to look through on occasion...
Hence the visor option, 37 & 38 .... I'll keep looking, dimensions anyone?

    Re: Sun visor

What you need are Fiat 124 spider sun-visors which are exactly the right depth, but too wide. You need to carefully remove the vinyl, and the padding, modify (shorten & straighten) the 3mm wire frame inside which is a bending and welding job. The 124 mounting hinges are correct for Stratos.

There's then a bit of jiggery-pokery to do, which involves (a jig), and an oven, et Voila, you'll have a pair of Stratos sun-visors.

You can see all of the parts needed, here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fr...isors&_sacat=0

Am sure that's right. Later Fiat Dino Spider might also be the same as they're shorter, courser grain leatherette with the same black plastic mountings (and the seams split in exactly the same place) - but I think basically 124 and still available at reasonable money. I don't remember ever seeing the Stratos having the vanity mirror on passenger side; did it?

    Re: Sun visor

The 124 Spider has two types of mounting pin if I remember correctly - the inner ones are the ones we need 4 off but the outer ones have the visor pivot pin integrated into the clip for the hood clamp.

    Wrong type:
