    Personally I wouldn't be happy without a centering spigot on the back of any car that runs reasonable power, weight & traction.
    Yes you can argue that the wheel is centered on the bolt/nut tapers but a positive centering location is essential in my mind.

    I agree, it takes the vertical load on its own.
