    Re: Build insurance

Footman James have given me build insurance on mine, quoted on the chassis number. Part built ListerBell, value £35k, insured fire, theft and accidental damage, has to be in my garage, £200 per year.
Reis insurance also quoted very similar.

    Re: Build insurance

    Reviving this thread.

I keep forgetting to insure my build - which is a really stupid thing to do, so I've tried to get a few quotes today.

Got into a circular discussion with Footman James about value. They will give 'market value'. They said one way was showing what I;d paid for the kit. I explained that there are other bits as well as the kit - like the engine and box etc. Mines cost me a fortune so far and I have all the receipts. But they still seemed not to understand! So didn't run a quote with them.

Range Hagerty. Asked for £50k cover. They quoted it as a 2017 car and they want £700! For a fire and theft plus accidental and coverage for trailering to places for work to be done......

Adrian Flux want £570 for £45k and £22 per trip when trailering.

I this now the going rate? Seems a bit steep to me!

    Cheers

    Re: Build insurance

When I started to build my car I had 3rd party fire and theft cover up to £30k with Adrian Flux for £53 per year. I am still with them on an agreed value fully comp policy. My car was transported during build by a third party using their cover. Seems as though you need to talk further.
