    Its the engine rebuild cost on top of the donor cost that's prohibitive. Even worse if you junk the K-Jetronic system for ITB's.
    A 308 GT4 on Carbs is the more "economical" engine option once you get past the donor cost & sodium filled valves.

    Well for sure any Ferrari is worth saving in my book , but Stratos replica values are soaring and for some a Ferrari power plant I guess is very appealing. Look at what some folks are spending on engines for their Strat.

    It would be interesting to know the fate of that rough Mondial?

    A car like that would have normally had 'breaking for spares' written all over it.

    As far as fitting one to a Stratos replica goes, for the equivalent money spent, it's belt and braces refurbished Alfa vs not refurbished Ferrari 308/Mondial. If you can find one.
