    The two big questions are:

    1. Are the new Hawk steering wheels 75mm pcd?
    2. Are the LB steering columns Mazda MX5 splines only?

    Gerry told me "the hole pattern is exact as original" and he forwarded me this both photos
    On my new steering wheel for the LHD conversion we used a quick release adaptator
    It's very convenient for using with different wheels, allowing easy sit and secure the car!

    I can understand why it might be needed to modify the bottom end of the steering column (to work with different rack config) but can't see why anyone would modify the steering wheel end if retaining the existing x1/9 column shroud, stalks, horn button wiring etc.

    and now I understand - as usual, I'd forgotten about IVA requirements
