As far as I know from all the locks I have picked it should just come out after the retaining clip etc has been removed. The Key is required to make the pins stand out for the ability to turn not to be pushed out.
I will check on my sets.
You think I'd know the answer to this one... Does anyone know how to remove the lock barrels from an X19 door handle if you haven't got the key?
Cheers
Guy

Thanks Ian, I'm sure you're right, it's just been so long since I attacked a door handle... I have a suitable punch to remove the pawl pin and some old keys too. No need ot check for me, I'll try removing it tonight and post the results!
Sounds right to me too - if you have locks without keys are you planning to replace the locks, cut new keys or "none of the above" ?
New locks on the way.

One done - tap the roll pin out of the pawl (pushing it into a piece of plasticine so it can't disappear forever), remove the return spring from the back of the lock barrel, slip a key onto the lock and pull the whole assembly out ready for the arrival of the replacement one. Simples.

I like that plasticine idea.
