    Rolling road session.

Well we had a great first rolling road session, we had a bit of a hiccup with the first base map from AHM but thanks to OMEX and their superb customer support a revised map was sorted and uploaded to enable the fun to begin.

This is basically a brand new engine since it's rebuild so everything was kept sensible and under 4000rpm, it still needs running in, unfortunatley the sound on my old video camera doesn't really do it justice but it is loud!

Spent about 5 hours on the rollers and covered around 25 miles, we actually ran out of fuel in the afternoon. Everything behaving as it should at this stage so went home very happy, we'll run it in for around 800 miles and then take it back for another session - weather permitting this time of year.

Quick video from the days activities:

Big thanks to Kevin, Bernie (Novatech), Andy and my Dad for all their help.

    MOT next.

    Vince.

'Sounds like you got it right first time Vince?

By the way, I like the black void area at the bottom of the sills. 'Hides the Hawk sill joining strip and makes the whole thing look less 'dumpy'.

I'm sure they'll be some tweaking once we start clocking up some miles, the only painful bit will be keeping it under 4000rpm for the running in period!

I agree on the black side sills, on the original 76 car they were quite wide so we just based it on those proportions.

I'll get him next time when I swap it over to the straight through exhaust system. He. He.

Funnily enough I did try ear defenders at one point and it seemed worse, it's more to do with the resonance which seemed to go right through any ear protection. Should be more interesting next time when we can use full revs, I'm really happy with it, it's just the right sound I was hoping to get from this exhaust.

When I saw the subject title, I was not sure what it was about, here in the USA that is refered to as dyno testing. Once I get mine together and get the engine to run, I'll be taking mine to a local shop that does that here. Did you get any horsepower and torque numbers?

    Re: Rolling road session.

No horsepower or torque numbers as yet, we weren't interested those figures for this session, with the engine limited to 4000rpm for the first 800/1000 miles this session was all about making sure the ECU was setup correctly and mapping the fuel. We're pretty confident this engine will deliver the horsepower figures I'm after but we'll know more in a few months time - Can't wait.

Having ridden in Sando's 3.0 24v, all I can say is that there's everything you need to keep a silly grin on your face and then some.
And that was before he put the ITBs on...

At the end of the day, it's a big performance engine in a small car.
