Just placed my deposit for a Lister Bell STR

Plan to build the car myself with (most likely) 3.2 Alfa V6 and probably the 2.5 gearbox but with Quaife diff.
Any suggestions as to best way to source the engine and ancillaries greatly appreciated.

Welcome Gerry, frustrating wait and then the fun build. Personal preference on the arches and depends on if your doing a period paint scheme and car. I originally wanted the square arch and the rear clam was made incorrectly with round arch. Hindsight I much prefer the round arch which makes it look more like an intended arch rather than add on. But the square do look the part and iterate the purposefulness of the car in its concept as a pure bred rally car.

Welcome to the club, you'll find all the advice you need here and from Craig. On engines I've always recommended getting a complete running vehicle so that you can check the integrity of the mechanical and electrical components you need for the build. Running the donor for a few months will tell you all you need to know plus you'll need a registartation document from the donor to get an age related registration number. That alone may decide your choice of which engine!

    Thx Graham
I have always preferred the sq arch for the reasons you mention but seeing more cars in the flesh I am leaning to round. I've got plenty of time to agonise over the decision whilst I wait for the kit.

On the limited ebay searching I have done it looks like 3.2 donors are quite expensive!

I'm based near Banbury also so may well take you up on your kind offer Dave. How far advanced is the build? are you also building an STR?

Anything with a Busso V6 is becoming expensive especially if it's still a viable road car. Best sources now are probably GTV Coupe, Alfa 166 in 2.5 or 3.0 V6 or the 156 in 2.5 V6.

On body styles I've had Stradale, Square Arch and am now trying to build a Round Arch. Favourite is definitely the Square Arch, it's the most aggressive look and, to my mind, there's something odd about the round arch seen on the road from behind, they look like they're crabbing down the road.

Whichever style you pick can I suggest that some research is needed, if you pick a rally scheme for a specific car/event (try not to pick one that's already been done!) then pick the body style that's appropriate.

    Thx again Guy
I'm really keen on the 3.2l so it looks like it might be expensive :-(
I have an idea for the colour/paint scheme based on the Alitalia car so I guess that means sq arches
