Some things just shouldnt be messed with, its a bit like painting tits and a mousrach on the mona lisa, at the moment I run a mk1 mitsubushi L200, beatiful truck, prime example of something that has been evolved and has become the Mk5 which is butt ugly, also look at the Suburu Impreza, some things just should not evolve.

But modern business practices demand that stuff evolves. I agree that it's mostly a bad thing though! Lots of examples of the 'original' being the best.

    Mk1 Golf GTi
    Audi RS2
    Aston V8 Vantage (2006)
    Fiat Panda
    Lotus elise

    And many more....

In many cases the original are the most pure. The problem is that the general public don;t get the 'less is more' concept. stick a load of driver aids, extras, weight and dullness in a car and they sell really well. It's all about the published figures, if it's got a faster 0-60 time then it's better, no questions asked.

If you are a proper car enthusiast you get how modern stuff is bonkers fast and safe but ultimately boring and clinical.

I've posted here somewhere else about this, but there is a youtuber whose mate has a McLaren Senna and an original Stratos. He did a video with him in the Senna where he says he considers the Stratos more of an 'occasion' to drive than the Senna and also prefers older Ferraris from the modern stuff. This guy has driven/owned all sorts so (to me at least) his option means something.

I think it depends on the execution. I quite like the new Stratos, but I'm not sure if it's just because it's a Stratos, and I've always loved the shape. I'm really undecided on the new integrale that Auto Amos have done. I like parts of it but I can't quite bring myself to accept the thing as a whole. Even though I owned one for a while I've never really had a huge attraction to the integrale, and wasn't sorry to see it go. I loved my VX coupe and hated parting with it, I also really liked my Fulvia and love the 2003 nuova Fulvia concept. I guess it all depends on how you feel about the model of car being reimagined. I'm not really a Porsche fan but the first Singer Porsche that was in the nedia a couple of years ago really took my fancy, I thought it was nicely done, not flashy.
