    Brake Calipers

    Hi Guy's

Could anyone recommend a Brake Calliper refurbishment company... preferably East Mids area

Bleed screw decided to shear off !!!!!!!!!

Need a quickish turnaround as Lombard Bath is getting closer !

    Cheers

There's a trick of welding a steel washer (from the centre), to what's left, then welding a nut to the washer?
Obviously, brake fluid and heat isn't good.

Do the brakes need bleeding Phil? Could you leave it as is until afterwards?

when the nipple sheared on a caliper of mine, i found a spark erosion company in yellow pages (it was a while back). It took them about 30 mins to spark it out with zero thread damage.

have you tried one of those stud extractors. There must be a nice hole down the middle of the nipple where the fluid flowed.

The bleed nipple sheared just below the surface ..... Drilled it out until there was an extremely thin shell left but it still didn't want to come out.... Knackered the thread slightly !
the nut size was only 8mm and it sheared off with hardly any pressure !
might see if I can get bigger nipples and get a tap to suit
