    Q Registration

    Afternoon all

If I bought a part finished Hawke that doesn't have the V5 from the donor and doesn't have receipts for all new parts I guess I may end up with a Q Registration.

If I went down that route and accepted that was what would happen how would it effect the resale value? To me I couldn't really care less what the plate says but historically has it made a difference?

    Cheers

    Re: Q Registration

It depends where you eventually sell the car but a Q plate these days is an indication that the car is legally registered so there's less "stigma" attached these days. If you can find a buyer outside the UK the plate comes off anyway. But, if I were you I'd prefer to avoid the Q plate if possible by buying an alternative donor with a V5. Has the current engine been rebuilt at great expense?

    Thanks for your reply Guy
I believe it's a very low mileage GTA engine.
I guess the answer is to buy a 156 and change the engine to the GTA engine and I have a donor car.

    Re: Q Registration

I guess that's one way of doing it! Just make sure that the car you buy is a V6, that it's MOT'd when you tell DVLA about the swap and be prepared to be asked for proof of the installation of the new engine, an invoice from a garage would be ideal. That way there shouldn't be an issue at the IVA test?

I'd say that's the way to go too. But not in court.......
Make sure you do it asap.
