    RIP Niki Lauda

Although not a Rally or Strato's Driver he was a True Legend of Motorsport

A sad loss. From a time when motorsport was much more dangerous, but also full of real characters and a lot more interesting!

Yes a great loss and a surprise - although must admit I haven't seen him in the Mercedes F1 pits for a while. Not sure what he died of - he was a youngster at 70!

If we can't make an exception for Niki Lauda, then who?

he had a lung transplant last summer because of the after-effects of the smoke/petrol inhalation during his accident in the 70s. This now explains why he didn't repappear at Mercedes after the expected timescale.
I loved his determinedly non-corporate dress sense and straight talking. Top man in a sea of corporate line-toers.

Indeed Chris. A rare beast these days.
We've lost one of the last true greats.
