I have been told that the wheelbase of the current BMW mini is the same as the original Range Rover.
I was out supporting my local car meet raising money for a hospice. Conversation turned to how cars have got bigger over the years.
So for comparison purposes we parked an original mini with the new Rolls Royce Cullinan, both designed for 4 passengers and luggage, thoughts and comments?

All new cars are massive compared to what they were when I was a kid. Saw a new shape Micra yesterday, it was the size of an original Focus I reckon.
Garages in new builds and car parking spaces haven't got any bigger though!

Apologies for the daily Mail related website link but it's a relevant article to this subject.
The RR is a poster star for conspicuous consumption...a tad over the top in terms of simply transporting 4 people. On the other hand, you may well be able to get 4 in a Mini, but I wouldn't want to be one of them! (Actually, I'm probably 2 of them...so maybe I would want to be just the one!) So I guess the optimum car for modern peeps is something Focus-sized, where you could get out at the other end without needing the attentions of a chiropractor.
I wonder how much longer BMW can go before they have to rename the MINI brand, cos none of the current ones are even close to being small...
Yes, I was alluding to the fact that Mini and Rolls Royce are BMW brands these days
With advent of electric cars the government will be looking for a new way to raise tax, how about a volume tax the bigger it is the more you pay. You make your choice and pay your money.
Volume tax? Excellent idea! So the louder people have their in-car music, the more they have to pay!
...talking of which...why is it that the people who have their systems turned up loud (usually with the windows down too), are always playing crap music???
"the bigger it is the more you pay"....mmmm....not so sure about that one though....
On the subject, here's a couple of Porsche Spyders.
2 cute bums but they've got bigger over the years!!
Both factory rally cars, both Minis!! yep I'm with you Norm, might be a bit of trade description required
For clarity, they are both the same scale (1/32)
