    Scalextric

I used to do a lot of research for Hornby (Scalextric) and I've just come across these two images of two cars presented to Mike Cooper (son of John Cooper)
Both of the actual (real cars) were owned by me, Mk.1 Morris Mini Cooper S (Gp.2) and a Ford Escort GT, that eventually had a 1300 twin cam engine (long story)

Hornby modelled my cars as a thank you for my work, I still have my Cooper S slot, but I can't find my Escort, and until tonight I never knew they were ever anything other than 1 off's!!!!!

These are really nice. Good detail and I love the personalisation.

Flippin eck Griff, they've even got a decent version of you behind the wheel! If that's accurate you needed to go a bit faster in the Escort, cos your passenger's falling asleep

Very very nice. The models are a great and a wonderful back story to their creation. The escort takes me back (never had a mini) used to have a an RWC reg bubble arch 71 twin dash Lotus Twin Cam. Not sure if car had genuine history but bought it for £300 c30years ago!!!
Wonderful pics, brought a smile to my face.

They look great and yes, a great back story.

I've never had an Escort (well, not a car one!!) but bought an early mini cooper a couple of years ago at an auction. Driving it home was borderline scary. I didn't realise how flimsy they were and I felt like I was going to be squished by bog standard modern hatchbacks. Oh yeah, and I thought the brakes didn't work but apparently they were working fine and I just wasn't pushing hard enough or praying hard enough. Don't have it any more. I sold it to a braver bloke lol.
