    "Vendor Score total: 98/100"

That's a tad optimistic, to me!

    Cheers,

Agree with Leigh, too nice to break given how rare they're getting....plus it's an auto.

I dunno how things will go from here regarding buying Alfas as donors. Yes there'll still be rusty ones, but they're getting ever-fewer as well as pricier. Time for alternative power units? - brand new Ford Ecoboost V6 crate engine plus tranny? (this is where all the Busso Boys turn out in force with large sticks...!!)

There's bound to be some Japanese engines that no sane person would use, Norm. I think Toyota do something from the old Camry I think. I recon you could bodge one of them to fit in.

Could be right there, Jim. It's not the full-on, authentic Italian will-it-keep-running-or-explode experience though, is it...

Then again, you could also argue no sane person would want to drive a Stratos at all, given the driving position, the leaky side windows, the frying-under-a-magnifying-glass effect of the screen, blah blah. Fortunately the world is OK for nutters

I've never driven one. I sat in one of the cars on show at Stoneleigh about 127 years ago when I was first thinking about getting one and I had a little run in the passenger seat of a demo car just before I put my deposit down in 1998 or so but that's my full experience. Some of my memories may be a bit fuzzy tho but even back then, as a schoolboy, it all seemed quite exciting. I'm sure I would have remembered if it had a Japanese engine in it tho. I mean, some things stick in the mind

I only drove my donor car down the drive, to the bottom of the lane, turned it round and came back. All of about 1 1/2 mins tops!

Having built and driven a few thousand miles in both the "authentic" Busso and the now the new Pretender from Japan, I won't be going back.
