Of all the cars I've owned I miss my VX coupe the most. It was really good to hear what someone like Harry thought of it.

A great review and pretty accurate appraisal, I have been lucky to have been using my 1.6 carb Beta as pretty much a daily for the last 22 years and it still impresses me every time, she will waft like a normal car or cross country at highly illegal speeds all day. She may only have 100 bhp but you can use it ALL the time!!!

I will need some re-calibration when it comes to driving the Hawk!!!

I've only ever had 2 Beta Coupe's. First one was stuffed baby front left but ran. It donated it's 2000 motor in a swap for a tired 1600 in my HPE. Second Coupe was also a donor. For the Hawk. At the time I had two Beta's with their original number plates, PFY2T and PFY3T. Big co-incidence. When the first HPE finally gave up the ghost (mechanically - the body was damaged by an errant trucker - it wasn't worth restoring) it was replaced by the first of two HPE Volumex cars, both red, both fantastic handlers but both succumbed to the dreaded tin worm in the end although neither were wasted, both donating drive crains to Stratos replicas.

I'm not sure what the future holds but once Stratos 2 is built and sold I'd be sorely tempted by another Beta, probably a coupe!

Anytime you want to use mine Guy you are more than welcome, given the choice between the grale or the Beta I will pick the Beta any day over the grale... hence the grale being sorn'd.

Best scalp ever was out braking a modern F. California into roundabouts on the way to Silverstone 2014, the Modenese car could not escape!!! or was it outgunning a funny scoobydoo prodrive impretza thing... or was it watching a Fiat coupe fall off the road trying to keep up... the list is long
