Later TR7 went to gas struts very short,150mm ish , but boot lid on TR7 very heavy and strut very strong.

You don't want to be under a TR7 boot if the wind catches it and drops it.

A quick photo of a boot lid restraint I've used on my LB STR. Just a steel lanyard to stop the lid flipping onto the paintwork of the body. To keep the lid open if needed I use a decorator's extendable pole which also works on the front clam.
