    Guy,
That is very sad news, I only met Austin a few times during the purchase of my car but he came across as a really nice bloke who was a genuine car enthusiast, he was very positive and complimentary on what I had done with his car.
Condolences to his family and the people who knew him

Sad news, I remember meeting him when he was driving the "Spitfire Mog", interesting chap.

    Sincere condolences.

Austin clearly knew what he was doing, Pauls/Austin's car is a real gem, credit to both of them.

We are just the dispensable fleshy bits in our cars, they will crack on without us for many years!

Condolences to Austin's family & friends.

Thank you everyone for your kind words, I'll pass them on to the family when I get the opportunity.

To be fair to Paul he has rescued Austins car and apart from the number plate there is little to identify it's original builder. And that's perfect okay. I'm always a little sad when a car changes hands but remains forever associated with it's builder rather than the current owner.

    Guy,
Sometimes I feel we are just guardians of certain objects and all we are doing is looking after them ready to pass them on in the future, hopefully improving them during your ownership

And, eventually, in another car or cars! I'm not sure where the original rear clam from Austin's car went when he bought the round arch one, no doubt someone will remember but I do know that the side panels that were cut off and left at Geoff Turton's workshop ended up in a skip. Until I retrieved them, stored them in my loft for a few years and then passed them on to Chris Jarvis for his project!
