    Hello from South Wales!

    Hi,
I’m new to this forum and looking to get loads of hints and tips before I take the plunge into Stratos ownership. I’ve been told it’s a friendly place.

I’m into rallying, own a rally car, navigate a bit and service on my friends cars.
I worked at DK engineering a long time ago as a toolmaker and had the pleasure of sitting in an original Lime green Stratos and just trying to understand the thought process behind the windows!
I’m a dent guy now, running my own business, fixing dings and dents in metal panels on cars and motorbikes tanks, and I want to go out and get a fibreglass car??

I love the V6 howl, the Stratos and the 6R4 are my favourite sounding cars. Ands that’s one of the reasons I want a stratos...the noise!

I’m looking forward to reading more of your builds to get ideas and from what I’ve seen so far, there’s some great cars out there. Can’t wait to see some more!

Friendly?? Us??? Must be a different Stratos club....

Welcome Justin - I see you managed to join after all (I've just replied to your email but you can obviously bin that now!)

If you want to buy or build a car, this is deffo the right place to be, and if you can figure out a way to get dings out of fibreglass then you'll make a whole heap of new pals on here!

We've not had much social activity going on over the last 12 months or so (just like everyone else), but if you want to see a few cars then get along to one of the get-togethers - have a look in the "Events" section. In fact there's a garage day coming up a week on Saturday in the Midlands, if you fancy coming. Just reply to the thread on the forum and you should be fine.

Stratos window glass....well there were a coupla cars with "conventional" glass opening, but the severe curve in the door panels and interior trim makes it a bit awkward to make work right. The "solution" of having the glass hinged at the top rear meant you could get a full drop at the door front and also made it a simple mechanism.

Anyway, have a look round here and post away

Thought process behind the side windows? Simplicity I guess! Do away with all those window channels, pivot it by the driver/passenger shoulder means it's a simple thing to operate. A slight twist of the locking knob and it'll drop/lift. Inspired I think!

Welcome to the club! Good luck with the build project whenever it starts!

    Thanks Both,

I'm getting quite stuck in already looking at the builds. Each car seems to have its own personality. Time to dive in some more.

    Welcome.
I certainly got a lot out of reading all the ongoing and previous build threads when I signed up 4 years ago and I guess there's a lot more to read through now.

    Cheers Tom,

Great to catch up on the phone the other day after such a long time, and cheers for the advice.
I’ve got a lot more research to do on these cars, but would love to give one of these amazing cars a new home. Let’s see what happens and can you keep an eye out for me in the meantime. Ta
