Thanks for the great photos guys!
Nothing that large. Maybe a few Stratos-themed postage stamps
Thanks for the great photos guys!
Dave, if I'd known you were going, I'd have gone too, if only to kick you with my blue shoes As it was, I was under the impression no-one would be there so I didn't see the point in driving all that way and back!
What was the show like?
How many halls were used and were the usual kitcar manufacturers there?
Hi Tom. this year the show was down to one hall, the main one. They managed to cram all the exhibitors in there including the usual nuts and bolts people. There were a few, very few, stalls outside. Apart from Hawk (three cars vs the usual 6) AK Cars Westfield, Crendon were there and another few manufacturers.
Visitor numbers were way down on previous years. No surprise there really given the current Covid situation?
Having said that the visitors we saw on Gerry's stand were a strong series of sales leads. The usual day 2 family day trip crowd were absent!
Club stands outside were fewer than in the past. With fewer cars on. Clubs seemed to have chosen one day or the other.
So, would I be surprised if this was the last Stoneleigh? Probably not! I can't believe the exhibitors will have made a profit this year. Which will have to have covered 2 years operations...
Sadly most of the visitors to the show completely failed to appreciate Gerry's new tin car. A few were blown away by it. None admitted to being able to afford it....
Guy
I had a gander at the steel monocoque, and it’s a lovely thing indeed. Not sure I understand the target audience though, but then I guess I wouldn’t!
It's just part of a larger plan.
The manufacture of OE fit components will increase the amount of off the shelf parts available for owners of original Lancia Stratos cars.
At the same time, some of those parts may be of interest to Stratos kit builders.
Having said that, the popularity of OE parts is in decline, as far as kit builders goes.
This all reinforces my argument from 2019 that maybe it's time we held the AGM elsewhere. No harm in having a pitch at Stoneleigh too though. Let's see how things shape up in the coming year.
