They've been around a while Peter, but I think some folk have had quality issues with the 'new' ones.

Can't speak for the new ones but the old ones suffer too if there's too much current put through them, headlamp circuits especially. always use relays!

And the wiper ones! Question from my navigator at a stage start - "Is it normal to have smoke coming out of your steering column?" Once off the line visibility without wipers was fine.

I got through 3 sets of stalks before adding in relays to virtually all circuits (it did look like a rats nest tho' LOL)
