No photos at present, but having changed my engine and box last year, for tweaked GTV engine and 6-speed box, my older units are available.
The engine is from a 164, so a 3.0 litre 24v unit.
Was still running fine (video clip available) but I cannot vouch for it as occasionally over-heated but later found header tank lid was bent and cap would not hold any pressure. No bottom end noises, oil pressure fine.
Anyone using it would at least need to change cam belt and tensioner, would recommend new water pump and t-stat at the time.
I have re-used the engine management from that on my later engine. That does mean I have a GTV engine loom, ecu and immobiliser, which should fit. I also used the 164 airflow meter, so GTV parts available too.
Would be ideal for anyone looking to rebuild or refresh an existing 164 engine.
The flywheel was lightened a small amount (by Barry Waterhouse) and has an uprated clutch. If splitting these, would recommend new clutch though this has never slipped even when dumping the clutch for Brooklands 'Test Hill' starts.
As for the gearbox, I have two available. Both are five-speed units.
First, currently attached to the engine, is my original 164 12v gearbox that is running a 2-litre diff (lower-geared, higher ratio than 3-litre) and has a Gripper limited slip diff fitted to it. The diff is worth about a grand, new. Great for track use, whereas a Q2 is much better for road use.
Alternatively, I have a 164 24v gearbox sat in the garage. Condition unknown as I haven't run it, but was believed fine when I got it with the 24v engine.
If anyone is interested in the engine or either gearbox then let me know.
Price would depend on what is being purchased as could be a job lot, or I may end up selling individually.
Would need to be collected from near Newbury, Berkshire.
