    gearbox removal

Is it possible to remove gearbox (alfa 3ltr 12v in a hawk) without having to take engine out?

I don't have a Hawk kit, but I have removed one from an Alfa 164, so I would imaging that it would be easier to remove it in a Hawk.

I've managed it with a Beta.
Putting it back was more difficult.
I made some guide studs out of some monkey metal conversion wheel studs, to line the bell housing up.

The stud (two best) trick to help you get it back on and lined up is the way to go, I use a bolt with a long shank with the head ground off so it slides easily. Just a couple of flats to get a spanner on if it is tight so you can get it out !
When you are doing it on your own juggling the box, a trolley jack and bits of wood it makes it much easier. Carpet upside down on the chassis is good for protection too
