Apparently it was built to go on the roof of the Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton, but when it was delivered either the builder said "too heavy" or the owner said "how much ?" and it got sent away and has been kicking around Skipton for about 15 years
Our house is the stable block completed in 1907.

Totally OT as far as garage day goes but...
We sold our house just over a year ago. It was the main farmhouse for what had been a significantly large farm and was built around 1850. We got a call from a 90-odd year old lady who asked (very politely) if she could come to view it even tho she couldn't buy it because her family had worked on the farm in her youth and she and her sister had been born in the house in what was now our kitchen. She came and had a great time!! She was pointing out where all the old walls had been, where the servants lived in the attic and how the layout had all changed. She had ancient black and white photos of the house and grounds and farm. We found out that cows used to be milked in the laundry, that turkeys used to live in part of the front garden and that peacocks used to roam around... sometimes inside! It was a nice afternoon.
And back to cars....
You are all welcome to a garage day here if you want me to organize one if there are any takers.
Upside plenty of parking space.
Downside - Bradford postcode and blimmin' long drive from anywhere
Hi Phil, just to let you know that I will be coming to your garage day. Maybe with Annalisa or my dad.
Cheers Steve
Jim - I've seen your pix of your Strat, so methinks the peacocks are still in residence![]()
Ste - wondering how many it takes to patrol the battlements to keep the car safe inside?? Must be cost-effective in keeping the insurance down in these days of rocketing premiums.... but, the garage day's a great idea. They're always popular - look how many turn up at Phil's and Gordon's, and where they travel from! Choose a date then post on here![]()
Hi just a quick note to say I?ll be coming along to meet you all if that?s ok
regards
Stephen
