    WANTED: 100 mm electronic speedometer

Now that I'm on with the binnacle, am also seeking a 100mm (dia.) electronic (or maybe GPS?) speedometer to suit.

Anyone got anything suitable, or suggestions?

I used VDO vision 100mm with Hall sensor fitted to LB bracket that bolted straight to gearbox.
Bracket holds sensor over CV joint bolt heads.
Speedo calibrated in road outside my old house. By measuring on googlemaps and using the auto cal function.
    Very accurate on IVA
make sure you run a shielded Belden cable now

How will you be able to demonstrate on IVA rolling road that GPS speedo is working correctly.
On my 2nd IVA (before I had LB bracket for Hall sensor) they ran car up to 70mph and the needle was all over the place and I got a fail! (i think I phoned Craig and cried as everything else had passed. Craig posted bracket next day and 3rd IVA passed)

I don't think you can submit a car for IVA with a GPS speedo.
Folks build cars with post IVA modifications in mind.
Some people even change the entire dashboard for IVA!

in the end I did all my gauges with VDO Vision (they all came with the big pile of bits I bought). Note the major dials are in the "wrong place" but the panel was pre cut when I got it. Next job is to put an Aluminium panel in if anyone knows where to get one

John . I agree change things after IVA, but when I did mine they made massive fuss about Speedo accuracy on the rolling road

Happily, don't need to satisfy the IVA as that was 19 years ago.

Am refurbishing my own instruments location (all 'Veglia Borletti)' simply because of cosmetic dissatisfaction with their pod or binnacle's finish. But there's no physical drive available for the VB speedo (not without removing engine & box...) but have a wheel sensor already fitted, which is why I'm looking at alternative, electrical speedos to run. A simpler solution.

I do like the look of those VDO gauges, but if you wanted to see them laid out on alloy & in the more-conventional order, then get an alloy instrument panel from Hawk Cars - I ordered one via Gerry only last week, and it came in 24 hours.

It's rectangular in shape & to that extent oversize, so you can trim it to match the shape of your individual car's binnacle, as originally manufactured. In your case, that means you could use the old carbon one for a template. (While the instrument holes are already & accurately cut).

Thanks. Do you have an image of the one you bought and the hole dimensions.
I think i might struggle with the row of switches I have.

It is fake carbon fibre stick on mine. If it was aluminum underneath i would peel it off, but I dont want to start and make a mess if not.
Has anyone else go any of this stuff and what is under the fake carbon skin

I seem to recall someone posted about some sort of device that converted an electronic signal to a mechanical drive for old speedos
