Hope they replaced the motor with a Dino, the car is stunning.
For Sale:
The engine, gearbox, ECU etc. out of this 246 GTS Dino replica
With spare gearbox and OE plenum 480 pounds.
The engine and gearbox were removed from the Dino replica because of 'a gearbox issue'.
I wasn't sure if the 'issue' was a big one or a small one, so I bought a good secondhand gearbox of the same type (C503 and cable shift), just in case.
The 12v engine is a shorter stroke than a 164 12v, and is a late variant, having the stronger later type rockers etc.
I have a much nicer 2.5 GTV RWD front (right) cam cover at extra cost. The front cam cover on the engine has had its oil filler moved to the back of the engine.
I have a 2.5 GTV RWD rear (left) cam cover, but obviously this has no FWD plenum mounts.
My plan was to fit carbs to this Busso, but not now.

Yeuch.
We had an enquiry this week for a kit for Australia to be built with an electric motor..... Hopefully the four year wait has put them off and the cost of the two available demonstrators was only going to be increased if we had to strip out the drivetrain before shipping them. I think they've gone away but there is always the probability that Gerry would refuse a sale to them.
He won't sell a Cobra to anyone wanting to install a Chevrolet engine for example....
Agreed. And Sean, even a Stratos replica is now a classic in its own right.
Interesting motor for sale there Chris.
Chris. Can you enlighten me on stronger rockers and if they can be bought and retrofitted to earlier engines? (assuming they are even available?)
Hi Steve,
Can you see the difference between the early (left side photo) and the late type (right side photo of my engine). The later rocker is wider in section.
I didn't know this until I read it in 'The Alfa Romeo V6 Engine High-Performance Manual' book.
'No idea on availability new. I'd be surprised.

Chris.
Thanks. I have that book somewhere, though I dont think I ever read (absorbed there was a difference) and I can't remember what my rockers look like from when I retorqued the head bolts (no photos - Doh!)

The super value for money price I could fudge past the War Dept... but it would have to live in the kitchen, wish I had the room Chris, I would bite your hand off.
