After a few days rest and browsing through the photos, I am sitting here thinking about what a fantastic time we all had in Laon.
Thank you to all the Stratos crews (not forgetting Gog in his 308GT4) for making the long journey out to France. Some of you even longer with the tour the week before.
Pre rally, a leisurely two day drive on back roads from Dunkirk to Laon via points of interest on route with a hotel stop half way.
Early Saturday morning was a worry with the weather when we met to head to the rally, but fortunately, the sun came out by 9am and stayed for the day.
Great car preparation from you all. As I think between us, I only heard of a few minor mechanical issues.
Thank you also to the Laon Historique Rally event organisers. They gave us a great welcome and seamless running of the days. Even VIP parking in the town square on Sunday morning pre closed circuit.
Stroke of luck the rally passed our house on the return leg, with everyone coming in for a cuppa.
To explain the cartoon from Ian Hassall. On Sunday morning, we were led straight into the town square to all be parked together. Gog in his 308GT4 followed us in to be politely told by the organisers to 'move on'!
Happy days.
Tom
Some photos from the week in France
A few more photos from Laon, mostly after the rain had stopped that greeted us on the Saturday morning.
From the very wet and soggy start of the Tour on Saturday morning, the assembly at Curcuit De Folembray for lunch, when we all lined up to have an Ice Cream during the Parade of the closed streets of Laon on Sunday and our return on Le Shuttle on Monday. We were given pride of place in the City square prior to the Parade.
