I'd suggest the hammer price means buyers were not totally convinced of the cars 1970's pedigree either?
I'm not saying it wasn't worth the money, but it must have cost that to put together?
More money to be made putting a nice replica together?
I think this car's potential for historic rallying is the main thing.
Someone got a fair buy I would say, date wise I thought the same about my build, Hawk build etc is 2015, my IVA 2023, donor engine, box etc year 2000, instruments, stalks, steering column etc circa 1977 =/- , average age about 1996!!! ...
Phil H's old car can now be used in anger without the fear of bending one of Waldegards or Munari's old steeds (or the likes) & you know where to get it re-jigged if you ever need too
