    3. Be vary careful at 20 miles when you go back under Tower Bridge, the artificial grass on the paving stones can be lethal if its wet.

    best of luck, Griff
    Thanks for the tips Griff.
I'll be taking it steady, having missed a big proportion of the training.

Or, do what I do when going for a run - do it in a car

However, I suspect you'll ignore my advice and do it using muscle power alone. In which case, good luck, and hope you get round OK.....and don't forget there's always cheating

    Re: London Marathon 2nd attempt

A quick update on my first and only marathon experience, I survived but it wasn't pretty.

With temperatures soaring and no shade it was a brutal run with many runners suffering from heat stroke, medics, volunteers and other runners had their hands full looking after everyone. My goal was to finish without walking or passing out which I just about managed.

The support was fantastic and non stop for the whole 26.2 miles.

For me seeing my daughter Georgia, her partner Matthew and my grandson Otis at the BCRT cheer points at miles 13 and 21 kept me going

Would I do it again? yep, Dad was 70 when he did the last one of his 20+ London marathons so I still have time to squeeze another one in I hope.

A big thank you for all the support and encouragement from the SEC community.

My just giving page is still open and I have some way to go to meet my target so please if you haven't already done so follow the link below to make a donation to Freddies Future and the BCRT:

What an achievement Dave. Well done!

Why are some runner's numbers red, and some blue?

There were a number of different start areas so I was in the Red zone wave 6, but there also Blue and Green zones. Very well organised they also have two different start points that merge together at mile 3, all pretty slick to be fair.
