Probably about 1/3 of what it cost to build.

I doubt there is a higher spec car anywhere, nor one built much better, but some of the design choices are going to limit the appeal I suspect. Given what replicas are selling for now it would probably be worthwhile to buy it, put a 'stock' body on it and re-sell it.....

mmm....wonder if I could nail a Strato's body onto my Midlana......

Only slightly joking on both counts.

Or a coat of white paint and some Alitalia stickers might go a long way to getting a sale

Re: Retro Power car for sale

Its been one guys vision I guess?
If no one else shares that then its going to diminish its value.
I've not seen it in the flesh, only photos. But my lad and his mates have seen it at Bicester and reported it doesn't look well executed interior wise.
Unless there is something I haven't seen to counter measure, that big chunk of chassis rail missing to accommodate the charger belt would put me off straight away.

John, I went to see it in my car as it is at a sales pitch only 3 miles from home, and the sales staffs comments were “I wish ours looked like that, we wouldn’t have a problem” and that was at least 2 years ago !!!!!

That chunk out of the top rail is certainly suspect isn't it.

Ahh, c'mon, Chris and John.....it's only a bit of chassis top rail - what could possibly go wrong?? And of course, we don't know what that supercharger belt guard is made from. Could be something that replaces the lost strength, such as.....err....umm....

As I said in the other thread about the car, why would you go to all the bother and expense of engineering a supercharger installation on a Busso along with the chassis compromises (see aforementioned top rail), when there's an existing 2GR-FE supercharged solution available off the shelf from LB that doesn't require any dubious fannying about with the chassis? If you wanted the 400+bhp as stated in the ad, there are enough options in Lotus-land, including a chargecooler to keep the temps down a bit!

As for the price: I think it might go once it gets under ?100k. Where it is now, I'm guessing, must be around turnkey new LB territory (depending on spec)....
