    a shade too loud!

    Hi,

police stop me last weekend and say the car is too loud,
and the noise measurement says 108 db! allowed 98 db + 3 db tolerance 101 db.
now i must less noisy (modified) the exhaust muffler.

i am not agree about the noise, but that is the legislating.

Ok, i will do my best to come 98 db.

    Hi Phil,

there was no way out the Police closed the street! and pick out all loud motobikes and cars.
you are right in italy they would say make it louder.
I think 98 dB are largely enough.
you know what is the maximum dB (decibel) in UK for a registered car?

    Re: a shade too loud!

For IVA to get the car registered it needs to be a maximum of 99db at 2/3 max engine speed.
    My Hawk was 98 db.
After registration at annual testing there is no noise test as such, it is up to the examiner to ensure the system works and does not leak.

.........however if you make a nuisance of yourself in the UK... the police... without measurement, but at their discretion and view on what is antisocial or noisey can issue you with a section 59 'ASBO' (Antisocial Behavior order - a term used for community sentencing in the uk for antisocial behavior) - generally used for younger hooligans but has also been used on us older hooligans with loud cars too.
If you get stopped again for this within 12 months after being warned you are threatened with having your car confiscated and crushed !!!!

    so don't upset the neighbors....

you mean don't upset the neighbors!

my neighbors are old and deaf, they cannot differentiate 98 or 108.
or they have chased the police to me! thats possible.

Nooooooooooooooo they are old and tidy, i hope Enzo

    Hi,

finally it's finished and the noise is 99 dB and that is OK!
    now it's comfortable traveling!
and the neighbors are also contented.
